Installation
Help
This page provides some help if you get confused
with terms like full installation, upgrade and
beta upgrade.
I don't have PSAR installed
on my PC
In this case you need to install the full
installation version listed on top of the download
page. The full installation version includes all
necessary files needed to run PSAR.
I don't have PSAR installed
on my PC and I want the very latest beta version
As always you first need to install the full
installation version listed on top of the download
page. Once that is done you can choose to upgrade
your copy to either the latest available production
version or even the latest available beta
version.
I have an old PSAR version
installed and want to upgrade
The download page always mentions which version
of PSAR needs to be installed on your system before
you can upgrade. For example: if you have version
1.4 installed and you want to upgrade to version
1.5050 you will first need to install the full
installation package 1.5000 as mentioned. In case
of doubt always use the full installation package
first before installing any upgrade. This
will not harm your data.
I have the latest full
version installed and want to upgrade
In this case you can simply install any of the
upgrade packages. Always verify your current
PSAR version to see if you need to use the full
install first.
Why is there a full
install, an upgrade and a beta upgrade?
The reason is simple. We want to provide users
with the very latest versions as soon as possible.
To prevent that users need to download the full
install package each time (large download) we
provide upgrade packages that only include the
changes and none of the support files that remained
the same. The beta upgrade is there to allow advanced
users to test the very latest features added in
PSAR but not thoroughly tested.
Going back to another
version (downgrading)
It's always possible to revert to an older version.
For example, if you have installed the beta version
but you discover some issues with it, you can
simply install an older version. This could be
the production upgrade or even the full install
package. Your data will be intact after such a
downgrade (the same is true for an upgrade).
